Signs That You Need Tuckpointing
1. Crumbling or Missing Mortar
Look at the mortar between your bricks. If you see cracks, crumbling, or missing spots, you probably need tuckpointing. You also shouldn’t be able to scrape out the mortar easily with a key or screwdriver.
2. Loose or Shifting Bricks
If any bricks feel loose or move when you touch them, the mortar is likely failing. Tuckpointing can strengthen your wall and prevent it from shifting or collapsing.
